Beehive Academy Schedule
How Our Class Schedule Works
At Beehive Academy, our schedule is intentionally designed around children's developmental and academic levels rather than expecting every child of the same age to need the same instruction. Children are grouped into four general age and developmental levels:
Level 1: Ages 3–5
Level 2: Ages 5–7
Level 3: Ages 7–9
Level 4: Ages 9 and older
Placement Is Based on Your Child
Age gives us a starting point, but it does not automatically determine placement. Children are screened before enrollment so that we can better understand their current skills, strengths, and areas where they may benefit from additional instruction or developmental experiences.
Based on the screening results, we place the child in the most appropriate level and recommend classes that fit their individual learning and developmental needs.
Two Choices Every Hour
One of the unique features of the Beehive schedule is that each level has two different class choices available during each scheduled hour:
Academic Class — Focused on areas such as reading, writing, math, language, science, and other academic skills.
Developmental & Enrichment Class — Focused on programs such as music, art, movement, dance, tumbling, social development, communication, creativity, problem-solving, executive functioning, and other developmental experiences.
This means parents are not locked into one predetermined program. For each hour their child attends, parents can choose which of the two classes they would like their child to participate in—the academic class or the developmental/enrichment class.
For example, a child attending a three-hour block might participate in an academic class during the first hour, choose a developmental class during the second hour, and return to an academic class during the third. Another child may choose developmental and enrichment classes for all three hours. The schedule can be individualized based on what is best for each child.
A Schedule Built Around the Whole Child
Our goal is to give families meaningful choices while maintaining appropriately leveled instruction. Academic subjects and enrichment activities are not treated as completely separate parts of development. At Beehive, each experience is an opportunity to build important underlying skills such as communication and language, attention, executive functioning, social-emotional development, self-regulation, motor development, problem-solving, creativity, independence, and academic readiness.
By combining screening, level-based placement, professional recommendations, and parent choice, families can create a Beehive schedule that provides the right balance of academic learning and developmental experiences for their child.
Exceptionally Small Groups Based on Ages/Level
One of the most important differences at Beehive is our commitment to small-group instruction: Maximum 1:6 teacher-to-student ratio.
Because of this, membership availability is extremely limited. When the six membership spaces for a particular group or time are filled, that group is full. We intentionally limit enrollment because the small-group environment is part of what families are purchasing.
Screeners will place children in a particular level.
Level 1 = Typical ages 3-5 years
Level 2 = Typical ages 5-7 years
Level 3 = Typical ages 7-9 years
Level 4 = Typical ages 9+ years
